Our Divine Download for May 12, 2023 is Boundaries from the Mary, Queen of Angels Oracle Cards. Mary says "I am clear and honest with others about my expectations." Here's the thing about boundaries: they're SUPER misunderstood. Boundaries essentially have absolutely NOTHING to do with other people and EVERYTHING to do with US. What we want. What we need. What we expect. What we are and are not willing to tolerate. Boundaries aren't telling or showing someone "I find this thing that you do/did unacceptable, so you need to not do it any more," but rather, boundaries are "you did this thing that I find unacceptable, so here's the different choice that I'm going to make to empower myself not to experience that thing you do/did anymore." See the difference? People are never going to change because of our boundaries and our expectations. (Let's be real, most people simply aren't going to change, period. With a couple of exceptions as to when they want or need to which stem from their own personal impetus.) But WE can change how we react. We can change what we do and do not tolerate. We can simply change how, where, and in what we choose to invest our energy. It really, truly, can be that simple. And the truth of the matter is that when we get boundaries right, when we make them about us and prioritize our own well-being, they are one of the most effective and loving things that we can do for ourselves.
