So of course love is the answer. Loving yourself is a necessary first step to embodying more love in your life. Allowing others to love you is also necessary and sometimes we block our connection to others and their love for us without meaning to do so on a conscious level. Giving and receiving love is part of the human experience. But it is often a part that we seriously fuck up. Love isn't meant to be conditional. It isn't meant to have strings. It isn't meant to begin and end. When you love yourself and exist in connection to spiritual truth, you embody and exist in love. You can be loving towards anyone anywhere without making it weird. We never know what people are going through or what they have experienced in our life. Showing human decency and kindness are acts of love. It doesn't take much if any effort to show love to our fellow humans. It can be as simple as calling your waiter or waitress by name (or the cashier, or the clerk at the bank) because it doing do you acknowledge the spiritual truth of who they are. That seemingly simple act tells them that you see them for who they are: a spiritual being having a human experience. If we all showed each other a little more love, a little more kindness, a little more compassion, a little more decency, imagine the changes we would see in the world. But if you do not love yourself first, most, and best, it is not possible to pour from an empty cup. You cannot give love if you are all out of love to give. Love is more than saying the words.
