Heal First, Judge Never

Our Divine Download for February 9, 2026 is Before you can heal others, you first have to heal yourself. from the Healing Cards. This card brings us the message "Today, be mindful of how often you judge others. In recognizing why you see others in a negative light, you discover the feast that you need to heal in yourself." This is like a part two to yesterday's card! We don't judge others for fun, or for sport, most of the time. We judge people in part because our brains are trained to sort everything into categories (I.e. good/bad, black/white, safe/unsafe, etc.) We do this because our ego needs to categorize things simplistically in order to be able to process information quickly so that it can do its job and keep us safe. But the reality is that most of the things we are trying to categorize cannot be done so simply, so quickly, or so easily. People are simply too layered to ever be all or nothing or to fit easily into a narrow category. Judgement can be a useful too for survival at a baser level. But in day-to-day life, conscious, intentional judgement is maladaptive and indicates that we have misunderstood the assignment. When we judge other people, we are essentially citing what we are afraid of or what we are afraid to become. We don't look at the fear. We don't look at why it might be more comfortable for us to judge others than to sit with the fear within or about ourselves. Facing fear is never easy. It is never comfortable. But it becomes even less so the second we project our own fears on to others through our judgement. Make no mistake about it: judgement is absolutely an act of projection! But here's what no one tells you about judgement: it doesn't make the fear go away. It doesn't ever feel easier or better to judge others. Rather, it expounds our fears because we ultimately end up feeling worse about ourselves when we actively project judgement on to others. So check yourself before you wreck yourself. Judgement. Just don't do it!
