Pray, Envoke, Invoke, Communicate!

Our Divine Download for July 21, 2025 is Communication from the Black Goddess Within Oracle. There are countless ways, infinite ways to communicate with your ancestors and Spirit (the Universe, God, All That Is - however you define it). Prayer, evocation, and invocation are just a few of the myriad ways in which we can communicate. These are nuanced approaches that will open a distinct portal when used to communicate through the veil. Prayer is probably the most well-known and widely utilized method of ancestral communication, is simply the practice of being in conversation with your ancestors. Our simplest prayer is "Oh God." (or "Dear God..." be mindful when, where, and how you are using this prayer!) You can also evoke your ancestors, asking them to be near so that you can experience their energetic presence. You may choose to do so when you are in need of spiritual comfort, presence, or protection. An invocation is a deliberate request for support. You may invoke your ancestors with a specific request for aid when something needs to be handled. There is true power in intentionally praying to, evoking, or invoking your ancestors. In each of these approaches, you voice - whether internally or externally expressed (though it is always best to speak out loud when you are able!) - activates the connection. Your ancestors can recognize echoes of themselves in your vocal expression. They respond to the resonance in your words. They are always accessible and listening for your call. So call upon your ancestors, work in harmony with them, and let the magic of sacred creation unfold.
