Thorns Out, Blossoms Forward

Our Divine Download for June 11, 2026 is Crack Open/Rose from The Illustrated Herbiary Oracle Cards. Just like Rose, we have been cultivated for beauty. We are each uniquely beautiful individuals who are meant to celebrate and blossom into our own unique beauty, and we are very much meant to lean into and appreciate the beauty, to compliment the beauty of those around us as well. Male or female, we tend to our appearance, choosing clothing colors that complement our completion, grooming and styling our hair, and adorning with accessories, jewelry, and makeup. Similarly to hybrid roses, we cultivate ourselves to become essentially thornless. Rose is suggesting that we actually add a layer of protection to our attire and appearance by incorporating a symbol of protection. This has been done throughout history and across various cultures. In nature, color acts as a warning and bright red and black are typically warning colors. In Celtic culture amber jewelry was worn for protection, and many Native American tribes wore turquoise. You can even add literal weaponry to your attire by tying your hair up with hair sticks which are reminiscent of porcupine quills, or carrying a swiss army knife (where it is culturally appropriate and acceptable to do so). You don't have to be quite so literal about it and can envision colors, jewelry, and accessories as intentionally worn protection. When you have an awareness of these proverbially protective thorns, it is much easier to walk into the world with an open heart which allows you to blossom and grow to your full glory. It's a wild, wild world out there (and some roses do grow in the wild!), so our protective "thorns" are more necessary now than ever. But the world also needs our beauty, your beauty, now more than ever. armor up, thorns out, and allow yourself and your life to blossom like you never have before.
