The Greatest Of These Is Love

Our Divine Download for November 9, 2025 is "True love can never really be lost" from the Healing Spirits Oracle. The Arcade Fire asked "when love is gone, where does it go?" in their song Afterlife. It is a poignant question, because much like matter itself, true love can never be destroyed. It also can't really be created. We love who we love. We're connected to who we are connected to. Love can shift, and grow, and change, but it isn't ever lost. It doesn't go anywhere. It doesn't disappear. It is all of the other factors that we mix up in the fray, and confuse as love or mistake for love that makes us think that it is possible for love to be created or destroyed. And holy moly do we do a lot of things in the name of love and so we mix up a whole lot of things with love causing us to mistake things that are not true love for love. One of the most popular bible verses, which is often read at weddings, 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 says "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres." And as something that always perseveres, it can therefore never really be lost. It can be disconnected. It can be temporarily absent. It can be overridden circumstantially for a period of time. But true love, real, true love, will always find a way. Because we also know that 1 Corinthians 13:13 said "Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love." So at those times where it may feel like true love is slightly absent or lacking in your life, booster your love of self (which should ultimately be your truest love) and lean into your faith and hope. Because that is where love exists the clearest and the strongest.
